Denver Gun Buy Back FAILS!!!

Ha ha, these bastards couldn't even come up with $50 to buy back the guns from all the gullible people willing to turn them in "to make the streets safer". Ha ha ha!!!

Gun 'Buy Back' Turns Into Gun 'Give Back' (12/27/2008)

A gun "give-back" in Denver ended Saturday after it started as a plan to buy guns from people.

Organizers couldn't come up with the $50 per gun they had hoped to trade people for weapons.

The event was held at 9th and Holly and 15 guns were turned in, but more were expected if there had been money.

Several people with handguns and even a shotgun came expecting to collect cash, but they apparently did not hear that there would be no money, so they left with their guns.

Others did drop off guns. One man said he found a .9 millimeter handgun in a gutter by his house. He believes the weapons can be dangerous for a very personal reason.

"You know I buried a nephew about three years ago, got shot on the east side you know, but it's like I say, to get the guns off the street, it's to save these kids, it's what I'm about and money don't mean nothing to me," Tony Veasley said. "It's about getting guns off the street and get them to a safe environment."

The guns will be given to the Denver Police Department.

Originally organizers were hoping to collect $5,000 to $10,000 in donations, but the money never materialized.
A .9 millimeter handgun? I'm not familiar with that caliber. All things being said, I should have shown up with a couple hundred $, pretend to have been one of them and walked away with a handful of guns!

One more thing - if anyone wants to get some guns, all you have to do is stage a "buy back" event and offer people $50 to turn them in. Anyone want to do this with me?

They did something like that around here a few years ago...it was a State
funded thing as I recall. They were giving $100 per "gun". Problem
was, at that time you could buy the Chinese version of the AK47
for around $70. Entepreneurs simply went to the gun shops, bought
up thier stocks of under 100$ weapons and turned them in for
a cool $25 or $30 instant profit.
The "program" soon exhausted its funds and was ended. This was around 20 years ago.

Yeah. I heard of guys selling 3 or 4 old obsolete/broken/damaged/malfunctioning guns and using the money to buy one top of the line milspec rifle.

That is a great idea. I think I may be taking advantage of this scheme. Just think of all the NFA items you could buy after hitting a few cities with less informed people who think the government is the way.

They are popular with pixies. Tinkerbell carried one.

Count me in. Who lives in S. FL? I would do that. Put a "public service announcement" in the newspaper for free... a few signs by busy intersections...

Bet we could get some great guns CHEAP. No shit.
